Jonathan Land Evans is a writer of short-fiction collections (including the recent Lulu.com hardback More Tales & Trifles: A collection of all-new short fiction); also of numerous scholarly history books about his native Bermuda and its place in the world, including a series of books on the island's modern history; an Essays on Bermuda's History series of books; and major works on the island's art history (including Bermuda in Painted Representation (Author's Text-Only 2022 Preview Edition) and The Encyclopedia of Bermuda Artists, 10th Anniversary Edition). Most of his books are self-published through (and available for purchase exclusively at) Lulu.com, with two recent paperback mini-collections of short stories (Six of the Best and The Typishly Tales) available through Amazon.com and his 2017 coffee-table book Bermuda Maps published by and available from the National Museum of Bermuda. His earlier fiction titles include Fortes And Foibles, Ragbag (which was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews), Bermuda Stories, Stateside Stories, and Stories From Hither And Yon, as well as the hardbacks Collected Stories 'best of' compilation (which was praised by The U.S. Review of Books), Lordly Wadson (warmly reviewed and "recommended" by The U.S. Review of Books), Collected Plays, etc. His short stories have been prominent at the on-line literary journal Typishly, where he is their most featured author and a Pushcart Prize nominee. Although he generally self-publishes his historical works, he has also frequently been published by the National Museum of Bermuda/Bermuda Maritime Museum, including various book chapters and papers in Dr. Savage's Bermuda, Four Centuries of Friendship: America-Bermuda Relations, 1609-2009, The Bermuda Journal of Archaeology & Maritime History, and MariTimes, as well as his handsomely-illustrated coffee-table reference book Bermuda Maps: a Cartographic History of the Somers or Summer Islands, 1511-1948. A retired lawyer, he is also a writer of short plays, most of which can be read in his Lulu.com hardback Collected Plays omnibus volume. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA; the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, DC, USA; and University College London (UCL), London University, London, UK.
