SON OF TERROR : Frankenstein Continued is a direct sequel to Mary Shelley's classic book Frankenstein. The book follows the story of Victor Frankenstein's highly intelligent and terrifying Creature, focusing on his fascination with 21-year-old Mary Godwin (Mary Shelley's mainden name), an investigative journalist from New York City who is summering on an island in Maine.
This original, moving, suspenseful book is part detective novel, part sci/fi, part literary fiction, with allusions to a whole range of books that influence the characters and their tale -- from the Bible to Lee Child, Stephen King and Joyce Carol Oates via, Homer, Shakespeare, Swift, and many others. The author cleverly moves back and forth in time, keeping us fascinated by the plight of his protagonist. Chanler succeeds in making Frankenstein's monster endearing and leaving us with some hope that this giant might ultimately be loved.
The author is working on an audio book version of SON OF TERROR: Frankenstein Continued.
